Lucas Rutting works as a Scenarios and Policy researcher at the Environmental Governance Group, Copernicus Institute, Utrecht University. He coordinates the CCAFS scenarios work in East and West Africa, which is at the interface of science and policy. As such, he collaborates closely with CGIAR centers and other key stakeholders in these regions to develop combined climate and socio-economic scenarios to improve governance regarding agriculture and food security, at the regional and national level. Lucas is also a PhD candidate, focusing on understanding and improving the role of foresight in policy formulation for effective SES governance. Lucas was trained as ecologist and natural resources manager. Prior to joining Utrecht University, he worked as a researcher at the ECI, Oxford University and as an interdisciplinary lecturer at the University of Amsterdam.
